Find Relief from Anxiety and Reclaim Control of Your Life

Do you feel overwhelmed by fear and self-doubt stemming from a difficult break-up or past relational wounds? Are you driven to be perfect and please everyone—even when it makes setting boundaries or expressing your needs a challenge?

Perhaps you’re a college student or recent graduate overwhelmed by the stress of choosing the right career or partner. Or maybe negative thoughts and incessant worry are making it hard for you to focus at work, sleep at night, or connect with others in a meaningful way.

If any of this sounds familiar, anxiety treatment can help you understand what’s going on beneath the surface and give you tools to feel more grounded, confident, and at ease in your daily life.

How Anxiety Affects You:

As a therapist in San Diego and the founder of Inward Healing Therapy, We understand that overcoming anxiety alone can be daunting. With compassionate and empathetic support, you can find the peace and assurance you need to reclaim fulfillment in your personal, professional, and spiritual life.

Anxiety Is Becoming Increasingly Common in Young People’s Lives

Anxiety Is Becoming Increasingly Common in Young People’s Lives

Modern life—with its constant social media, online dating, and 24-hour news cycle—has intensified anxiety, particularly among teenagers, college students, and young adults. Despite an abundance of information, many still struggle to form genuine connections.

Modern Challenges for Young People:

  • Comparison Culture: Many young people compare themselves to the seemingly perfect lives of their peers.
  • High Prevalence: Approximately 31.9% of adolescents experience an anxiety disorder, and 8.3% face severe daily impairment.
  • Early Onset: More than 1 in 20 children (ages 6–17) have been reported by parents to have current anxiety or depression.
  • Sensational News: An always-on news cycle can heighten stress and worry.
  • COVID-19 Impact: The ongoing uncertainty surrounding the pandemic continues to affect mental health in San Diego and throughout California.

The Need for Professional Support:

  • Limited Resources: Many young people lack the skills and tools to manage anxiety independently.
  • Support Gaps: Family and friends might not always have the emotional bandwidth or expertise to help.

At Inward Healing Therapy, We offer a safe, supportive space where you can share your story and begin to heal. With my guidance, you can uncover the source of your anxiety, challenge negative self-perceptions, and learn effective ways to cope.

Anxiety Treatment Is a Gateway To Better Living and Healthier Relationships

Worrying about your future is normal. However, if stress and anxiety are overshadowing the joys of your present life, it may be time to seek help. Working with an experienced anxiety counselor provides a safe space to share your thoughts and feelings with someone you can trust — someone dedicated to your ongoing growth.

  • Explore Your Core Beliefs: Discover what fuels your emotions and thought patterns.
  • Reduce Negative Thinking: Gain practical skills to manage symptoms effectively.
  • Personal Growth: Learn to support yourself through future challenges.

It’s important to recognize that while anxiety disorders are highly treatable, only 43.2% of those affected receive treatment, underscoring the need for accessible, professional help.

The Intake Process

Before your intake session, you’ll fill out a questionnaire relevant to your situation. This could include tools like:

  • Beck Depression Inventory
  • Generalized Anxiety Questionnaire
  • PTSD Scale

This helps provide a starting point for treatment. In the initial session, we’ll focus on building rapport, ensuring you feel supported in a warm, welcoming environment.

A Collaborative Approach to Treatment

Together, we will gently explore:

  • Your upbringing
  • Past traumas
  • Relationship conflicts
  • Medical history

These discussions help me understand how best to support you. Anxiety treatment may seem intimidating, but you are always in control of your journey. Whether you need to drink water, squeeze a stress ball, or color in a mandala during sessions, it’s all about comfort.

Understanding the Root of Anxiety

One of my main goals is to help you understand the core of your anxiety issues, which enables true healing. We’ll explore aspects of your childhood that may provide valuable insight into your current behaviors. As we go through this process, I’ll carefully examine your thoughts and feelings to uncover any connections to past memories.

Tools for Managing Anxiety

I also offer techniques to manage your anxiety and stress:

  • Visualization Exercises: Reinforce positive beliefs about yourself and your life.
  • Breathing Techniques: Deep-breathing, grounding, and progressive muscle relaxation to stay calm.
  • Emotional Awareness: Learn to sit with your emotions and interpret what they are communicating.

Therapeutic Approaches Used in Treatment

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helps identify and change negative thought patterns.
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT): Improves emotional regulation, mindfulness, and distress tolerance.
  • Brainspotting: A technique used for addressing anxiety related to trauma and PTSD.

Achieving Your Goals

I truly believe that whatever you desire for yourself is attainable. Healing and growth can be gradual, but with the right support, you can:

  • Learn about yourself
  • Unlearn harmful beliefs
  • Achieve your goals (whether they relate to career, relationships, or inner peace)

Perhaps you are considering anxiety treatment but still have some concerns. Let’s discuss them together.

I am worried about the cost of anxiety counseling.

My rates are reasonably priced, especially for the San Diego area, so investing in your mental health doesn’t have to break the bank. Plus, despite the out-of-pocket cost it may incur, using a private practice can be more effective, as my appointments tend to be more stable and consistent versus agencies with high turnover rates.

That said, if you have an eligible diagnosis and your insurance provider covers out-of-network mental health services, you can potentially be reimbursed for a portion of your session.

I’m worried my therapist won’t understand my anxiety.

I will strive to meet you wherever you are in your suffering — both mentally and emotionally — by genuinely getting to know you and how anxiety is affecting your life. That said, we also take a realistic approach to anxiety therapy, which means we don’t pretend to have all the answers. However, using years of academic development and professional experience, We are certain that I can support you in discovering the answers within that will benefit you the most.

Does anxiety treatment really work, or are we just going to talk about feelings?

Discussing thoughts and feelings is an integral part of therapy. But that doesn’t mean our sessions are all talk and no walk. I’ll teach you how to communicate better, set healthy boundaries, and advocate for yourself unapologetically. I’ll offer you powerful grounding techniques for managing stressors and increasing your tolerance to distress. I’ll also teach you self-compassion to help you see yourself in a kinder light, eliminating the specter of negative self-talk. In the process, you’ll be taking concrete steps toward safeguarding your mental health and overcoming future challenges on your own.
